BIRDS EYE PLANT - FULTON, NY
As the Birds Eye food processing plant in Fulton, NY was nearing its last day of operations, Oswego County officials knew they had to market the building to potential buyers. Operation Oswego County, the county’s job development and economic development corporation, hired Ady Voltedge to develop a marketing campaign to attract companies to the 281,000 square foot facility.
Ady Voltedge brought two nationally-recognized site selection consulting firms into the project and learned the facility’s strengths and advantages that would appeal to companies. These strengths included 153,000 square feet of freezer space, 15,000 square feet of commercial kitchen space, 17 loading docks and 3 drive-in doors. Another selling point was the hundreds of skilled, experienced employees that would be available to work.
Based on the facility’s advantages, we executed a direct mail campaign to 1,000 food manufacturers within a 500 mile radius as well as 50 site selectors. A pop-up post card, shown below, described the building and its features. There was also a link to the website www.opportunitypops.com, a website we created specifically to complement the direct mail piece.
Within weeks of the campaign’s launch, several companies had expressed interest in purchasing the plant.
